General & Getting Started
KolectPay is an automated payment collection platform built for Ghanaian businesses. It allows you to set up recurring payment mandates for your customers covering loans, susu contributions, rent, school fees, device financing, hire purchase, and more. You collect automatically via MTN MoMo and Telecel Cash or Bank without any manual follow-up.
KolectPay is designed for any Ghanaian business that collects recurring or instalment payments from customers. This includes microfinance institutions, susu operators, electronics and appliance retailers, schools, landlords, car dealers, and any trader offering buy-now-pay-later options.
Click "Get Started" on the homepage and fill in your business details. You will be asked to complete a KYC (Know Your Customer) verification by uploading your Ghana Card or business registration documents. KolectPay reviews and activates accounts within 24 hours in most cases.
A one-time onboarding fee may apply depending on your subscription plan. Any applicable fee is displayed clearly during registration before you are asked to pay — there are no hidden charges.
Collections & Mandates
Once you create a collection for a customer, you trigger a mandate request from your dashboard. The customer receives a USSD prompt on their mobile phone. They dial in, review the debit terms, and approve it once. From that point forward, KolectPay debits their mobile wallet automatically on every scheduled due date with no further action needed from you or your customer.
KolectPay currently supports MTN Mobile Money and Telecel Cash (formerly Vodafone Cash). These two networks cover the vast majority of active mobile money users in Ghana. Support for additional networks is on the roadmap.
Failed collections are logged on your dashboard with a clear reason such as, insufficient funds or a network timeout. The system will automatically retry on the next scheduled cycle. You can also see a failed count on your dashboard so you can follow up with customers directly if needed. Premium plans include Smart Dunning, which automatically retries at 50% then 25% of the amount to recover partial payments.
Yes. From the Collection detail page, you can pause, resume, or cancel any active collection at any time. Pausing stops debits temporarily without ending the mandate. Cancelling permanently stops all future debits for that customer.
Payments & Payouts
All successfully collected amounts are credited to your KolectPay wallet in real time. From there, funds are automatically disbursed to your designated bank account or mobile money wallet according to your payout schedule. Settlement is powered by IT Consortium T+1 Settlements.
KolectPay deducts a small commission from each successful collection. The exact rate is displayed on your dashboard and depends on your subscription plan. There are no hidden fees — the net amount you see in your wallet is exactly what you receive.
Security & Privacy
Yes. All data on KolectPay is encrypted at rest and in transit using TLS 1.3. We do not store any mobile money PINs or sensitive credentials. The mandate approval process is handled entirely via secure USSD infrastructure managed by the mobile networks — KolectPay never touches your customers' PIN or wallet credentials directly.
For savings and susu collections, customers can request to cancel a mandate at any time. For loan repayments and hire-purchase agreements, the mandate remains active until the full outstanding balance is paid. The collection status updates automatically on your dashboard whenever a mandate is modified or cancelled.
